Welcome

Ben Kaye is a Dorset-based Poet, Librettist and Lyricist who has enjoyed celebrated collaborations with some of the finest Composers in the UK.

His powerful, emotive and lyrical poetry has formed the backbone of critically-acclaimed compositions performed all over the nation as well as featuring on BBC Radio and Television.

Kaye relishes challenging commissions, his librettos having explored such diverse subjects as mankind’s struggle with the elemental forces of nature, kidnap and incarceration, and the tragic loss of life in Afghanistan.

Following their lauded collaboration ‘Eternal Voices’, Librettist Ben Kaye and critically-acclaimed Composer Adam Gorb have teamed up once more for ‘Anya17’ - a unique contemporary opera that aims to expose the desperate plight of sex trafficking victims in the UK.

Directed by the award winning director of 'Slave – A Question of Freedom', Caroline Clegg, Anya17 premieres on 7 March 2012 (at a new venue to be announced following the closure of the Contemporary Urban Centre Liverpool) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Ensemble 10/10. A further performance will take place at the RNCM in Manchester on Friday 9 March.

Ben’s next commission (with JAM) is to be with Paul Mealor, the greatly respected Composer whose work ‘Ubi Caritas’ was ‘The Real Hit of The Wedding Music’ (The Telegraph) at the Royal Wedding.
